Settings Reference

On phones, open Settings from the menu; on tablets and in browsers, use the toolbar. Wide tablet windows show categories in a sidebar. Some options appear only on platforms with the relevant capability.

General

OptionPurpose
Startup Project ModeRestore the previous temporary workspace or start blank; restore is the default
Startup ScreenIn the app, choose Workspace or Playlists; shared with the same option in playlist settings
Waveform StyleClassic or Modern waveform display
Tablet tool position and Reset layoutPlace tablet tools on the left/right or restore the default arrangement
LanguageIn browsers, use the dropdown to choose a language or follow the system; the choice takes effect immediately and is saved. The app uses the system’s per-app language settings
Guides and InboxView the manual, reset onboarding, and adjust the bell and feature prompts
Keep decoded audio in memoryBrowsers only, off by default. When on, editing and stem separation skip re-decoding; long tracks use more memory

Manage named layouts through Layout in the toolbar. See Save and Switch Layouts.

Jog

OptionPurpose
Centre Label SizeChange the size of the disc's center label
Drag SensitivityChange how much audio the same hand movement covers
Gear keysConfigure up to four sensitivity keys beside the disc and their press behavior
Inertia and Inertia FrictionControl stopping, deceleration, or continued movement after release
Mini Vinyl Inertia ModeIndependently set the small half-disc's release behavior
Long Press Vinyl Speed SliderToggle the full disc center's hold-to-adjust-speed gesture
Show Drag Time OffsetShow the time moved relative to the start of the current drag

The label's name, number, and design are generated from project content or identity. Renaming updates the text; the project's design identity stays stable.

Beats and Count-in

Choose Smart/Fast detection and set the count-in time signature, length, and whether music before playback is included. Verify detected results by listening; see Beats.

Buttons & Keys

The page shows rewind/fast-forward buttons beside the disc and a lock screen playback card. Select a button and configure its action below; the current action appears beneath each button.

Tapping main-interface seek buttons can move by fixed seconds or switch clips. Beat-based seeking is a shared sub-option for both buttons and takes priority when beats are enabled. Holding continuously fast-forwards/rewinds until release; this action is not configurable.

App lock screen side buttons have an independent configuration with seconds, clips, speed, or no action. Playlist lock screens use their own configuration. See Project Lock Screen Buttons and Playlist Lock Screen.

“Keyboard Shortcuts” in the Keyboard section opens the key-remapping table; see Keyboard Shortcuts. It is always shown in browsers and appears on tablets and phones after a physical keypress has been received.

Feedback and Privacy

Haptic Feedback controls button vibration on supported devices. Scrub Texture is a sub-option and is hidden when Haptic Feedback is off.

Share usage data is off by default. When enabled, it sends product-action analytics; Firebase may process an app instance identifier and device information, so the data is not anonymous. This switch does not upload practice audio or notes. The native app’s Privacy section also links to the Privacy Policy.

Stems and Storage

  • Separation Model: view status, download, select, or remove a model. Availability depends on the model and system; follow your device's options.
  • Separation result storage quality: Space saver, Standard, or High. This affects new results' space and precision without converting existing results.
  • Rendered files: manage the playlist Power Saving Mode cache. Deleted files can be regenerated when needed; project media is not deleted.

See Separate Instruments for the difference between model quality and result storage quality.

Free, Pro and Trials

Start free. Pro and Pro Full are one-time purchases with the same features today.

The first row in Settings, GrooveJog Pro, shows the current status — Free, days left in trial, Pro unlocked, or Pro Full unlocked — and opens the purchase page; Restore Purchases is also found there. Once everything is purchased, the menu no longer shows a Pro entry.

  • Jog, speed and pitch, temporary A–B loops and basic playlists

  • Unlimited projects; one full-length practice project per device, the first 90 seconds of others

  • 3 saved clips per project; hidden, locked and out-of-range clips all count

  • Separate the first 90 seconds, or 180 seconds in your full-length project, even from longer audio

  • Full-length practice in every project; unlimited saved clips

  • Full-length stem separation, subject to device limits

  • Pro: keep your purchased core features permanently, including fixes and core improvements; new standalone modules may cost extra

  • Pro Full: also includes all future local paid features and modules actually released on the purchased platform; cloud services excluded

Claim 7 days of Pro yourself, then claim one extra 3-day period at any time after it expires. Each period runs in calendar time from its claim. No payment details or automatic charge. Installation and example practice do not start a trial. On Android the trial is recorded on this device only: it does not follow your Google account to other devices, and Restore Purchases does not bring it back.

Choose one full-length practice project on each device. All other projects allow practice from the start to 90 seconds, or their full duration if shorter. Limits use source time: 90 seconds played at 0.5× lasts 180 seconds. Project creation, import and Save As have no commercial count limit; names, project notes and other ordinary information stay editable.

Your first selection does not use a change. Your first replacement is available immediately; each successful replacement then starts a seven-day (168-hour) wait. The app shows the next available time. Reaching that time does not change your project automatically or accumulate changes. Canceling or failing a change uses nothing. The previous project returns to its first 90 seconds, with all clips, notes, media and stems preserved.

Deleting the selected project does not reset the wait and can leave you without a full-length project until the next change is available. Restoring the original project from a verifiable backup on the same device can restore its selection. Ordinary imports, copies and Save As create new identities; project packages do not transfer the device’s free selection. Reopening, renaming or restarting does not reset it. Replacing the source with another recording cannot reuse the selection.

A new workspace initially allows the first 90 seconds. You can explicitly reserve full-length practice for an import; the selection is committed only after the import and save succeed. Canceling or failing does not use a change. All in-app trimming, including import and recording flows, must stay within the available source range.

Free includes three saved clips per project, counting every saved clip, including hidden, locked and out-of-range clips. Temporary A–B loops do not count. Above three, the entire saved-clip list is read-only, including boundaries, names, colors and clip notes; you can explicitly delete down to three. Project notes remain editable. Clips crossing or beyond the practice limit remain intact and viewable or deletable, but cannot be activated or edited to use restricted content. An 80–110-second clip is unavailable in a 90-second project; it is never shortened to 80–90 seconds. Temporary loops within the allowed range do not overwrite saved clips.

Free separation processes the first 90 seconds of other projects or the first 180 seconds of your full-length project, even if the source is longer. Shorter sources use their full duration. The original media stays complete. Changing your selection or upgrading does not automatically generate the missing remainder. Shorter results cannot overwrite longer existing stems; explicitly delete those results first if you want to replace them. Stem playback pauses when the generated coverage ends; it does not continue in silence or switch back to the original vocals. Original-audio mode still follows the project’s practice range.

Jog, seeking, temporary loops, clips, pads, video, existing stems, playlists and background or lock-screen playback use the same source-time range. Sequential playlists move to the next track at the range end; repeat-one repeats the available range. If a short stem ends first, playback pauses. Pro and active trials allow every project’s full length, but do not extend stems that have not been generated.

Original media, notes and complete project backups remain fully exportable without Pro. Processed audio/video exports and trimming must stay within the current practice range; stem processing is also limited to existing stem coverage, including after a trim. No missing stems or silent padding are invented. A legitimately started processing task may finish if access expires while it runs. Waiting tasks recheck access when they actually start; batch clip exports start each clip separately. Existing original stem files can also be exported in full, even after access expires. Use a project package with stems for a complete backup; rendered multitrack export follows the processing range.

Each of the seven-day and three-day trials gives you one opportunity to reselect a free full-length project when it ends. Your previous free selection remains until you confirm; confirming starts a seven-day wait. A refund or purchase revocation restores the previous free selection and wait without adding another change. Upgrading an older library offers a candidate for you to confirm, without silently choosing or deleting data. Teaching examples retain their complete experience and do not use your personal selection or start a wait.

No separate GrooveJog account is required. Restore with the same store purchase account on the purchased platform; iPhone and iPad can restore in the same app. Project packages move data, not purchases, and do not sync changes automatically.

iOS and Android purchases are separate and do not transfer automatically between stores. Existing local Chrome extension features remain free, without mobile project or clip quotas. Play existing stems; stem generation is unavailable.

The mobile full-length selection and 90-second practice limit do not apply to Chrome.

See the app for actual regional store prices and available purchase options. Future modules have no promised release dates.
